Default Kakwa Lake June 9-16

I'll be leaving Edmonton on Sunday morning to drive to the Deadhorse Meadows trailhead near Kakwa Falls in Alberta's Kakwa Wildland Provincial Park. This is about an 8-hour drive according to google maps, passing through Grande Prairie. I will sleep at the trailhead Sunday evening and set out for Kakwa Lake on Monday. It's about 30 km to the public cabin at Kakwa Lake. A Herculean effort might put me into the cabin on Day 1, but I'm preparing to spend the first night on the trail. Return is flexible. I'd like to get a couple of good day hikes in, or perhaps travel to the cabin at Jarvis Lakes as part of the return trip.

I'm fine to go alone, but company is also nice. Email me here if interested.

Did you end up doing this?
Any chance you have beta on this hike?
I am more looking at Jarvis Lakes but I will take anything you have!
I'm looking at heading to Jarvis lakes next summer. I'd love to check out Edgegrain Lake on the east side of Mount Ida

Hey, I didn't realize you replied to my message 'til just this minute.

I didn't make because the muskeg was just too swampy to be enjoyable. I learned why there are no trip reports for the approach to Kakwa Lake from Alberta. It's not a summer hiking route. Here's my report: https://bit.ly/2XR4bQC

I enjoyed the Kakwa trip report, esmeadows!
It sent me on a long and spiraling adventure, through Google, of provincial parks and wildlands in central AB and BC--place names I had never heard before.
Funny to see so many descriptions of such places begin with "Known for its bears and ... "
Your TR has given me a new section of the world to explore. And the falls are lovely.
