Default Hiking April to May

Anyone want to join me for ahike or walk in the snow in the mountains.... in the Chilliwack, Whistler, or Baker Areas. Also open to Manning or Coquihalla.

This Sunday (April 5) is forecast for best weather.

Ideally Heliotrope is my #1 choice.

Metal Dome was awesome on Sunday (Apr 5); considering Heliotrope this Sunday or Rainbow Lake to Sproatt in the Whistler Area.

Alternatively also considering Flora Pass - south along the ridge towards Paleface 2, but not all the way. Objective start early and have a good ridge hike.

What sort of gear would you take for Heliotrope? I don't have ice equipment....

If I don't try, I've already failed.

Hi Shade. The way weather is going .... ice equipment will not be needed. Snowshoes should be fine as heavy snow forecast tonight. The first good section of the route is like a hike.... on snow-free times will expect crampons... ice axe etc... to get really higher up.

I am going according to info from friends who have been there.

I do not expect to get to top, just a good way up enjoy a new area. Come back for a second with more serious intentions.s

Snowshoes I have. What time were you planning on heading out?

If I don't try, I've already failed.

I am planning on leaving 7:30 am from my place in Abbotsford.

Is this time good for you, or would you prefer sooner.

Darn I don't know how to private message... I'd give you my cell#. If you PM me I'll text you.

7:30 is plenty early for me, I live quite a bit further away than you. Where would you like to meet, how long do you plan on being etc.

If I don't try, I've already failed.

This looks like a 9 km return trip with 500 meters elevation gain. probably 5 hours return including lunch.

Shade, thank you very much for joining me to Heliotrope, that was a trip to cherish.

Next week, thinking perhaps Flora Peak & pass area, snow conditions permitting.

Thanks Shade.

We have a club hike to Elk-Thurston on May 3, in case you would like to join our group then.

Flora Peak - southern ridge turned out to be a fabulous trip.

Next - May 3 Elk - Thurston Ridge

May 10 ... possibly Rainbow Lake to Sproatt Ridge, near Whistler.

Anyone interested in either one of these or both ?
