Default Warren MacDonald Slideshow & Talk

I would like to extend an invitation to ClubTread members to come to the next BCMC social as we have a very special guest speaker lined up.

Warren Macdonald lost both his legs at mid-thigh in a 1997 rockfall accident. He has gone one to climb Kilimanjaro, El Capitan, and the Weeping Wall. Warren is an accomplished speaker and this promises to be an outstanding presentation.

Where: Anza Club (Corner of 8th Ave and Ontario)

When: Tuesday, October 12th at 7:30 pm

Visit Warren's website for more info about him and his accomplishments: http://www.partanimal.com/

If I can get out of work at a decent time I'll be there. I have read about his trip to Kilimanjaro and would love to hear about it firsthand. Any idea how late this will go on for[?]

Doors usually open around 7:00. They ALWAYS run late so don't expect to get out of there much earlier than 10:30. The first part of the meeting covers club business so don't worry even if you're a little late as you likely won't miss anything of the presentation. There's beer available downstairs if you prefer that to crackers & cheese

Oh yeah that reminds me.... no minors please... due to availability of alcohol.

Hey SG,

Just a thought, do you want to carpool for that event? I never been down to Anza Club before but I would imagine the parking could be a nightmare. Let me know.

Yeah I'll carpool. I have to get there a bit early. Can you leave around 6:30? Anyone else between Steveston & the Anza Club who wants a ride?

What an excellent evening! I met some new folks, and reconnected with people I hadn't seen in years! I love the feeling of community in a BCMC meeting. I arrived rather early (before 7) so Kip introduced me to many people I had never met before, and I got to say hi to people I used to hike with long ago! Small world, and time flies so fast...

Spidergirl was right - the event started only after a bit of a delay, then some Executive introductions, some announcements about road status, BCMC initiatives, the Gondola next steps, an upcoming ice climbing festival (I'm so there!!!) and finally the guest speaker.

What a nice evening!

Lovely to meet you Spidergirl, and great to see you again Frodo, Scrambler, Social Climber and TracyL !

The presentation was inspiring. Great photos, good films and riveting narrative. An evening well-spent!

Thank you for inviting us to the event Spidergirl !

cheers - C Wall
