Default Lucky Four Mine - near Foley Peak Aug.31/14

For anyone who is up to , this is a long and reasonably arduous hike which begins near the far end (south) part of Joans Lake. From here you get a great view of the backside of the Welch - to Cheam Range.

The plan is to take this trail that heads to Conway; however this time we will approach Foley Peak up a ways and drop down and try to locate the old mine site, look for and view relics and do some fun exploring.

This will be about a 20 km+ round trip hike starting with an old gravel road (trail in midle); then the ancient pack mule trail which heads into the alpine, stop at the Mile-Camp Site, and then proceed towards Foley after a lunch and view break.

We should aim for a reasonably early start: such as 7 am stop at Sardis....

Anyone want to some scrambling, I will bring a 100 foot rope to enhance chances of getting near the mine site.

Either that is going to be great hike /Foley's ridge.\

Hi Karl, will you be summiting Mt. Conway or not this time? I may be interested in this trip and booked the day off.

Quite possible. 45 minutes to an hour more. Lucky 4 Mine will be the primary objective, if we have time and energy. then we head over to Conway along that ridge.

Hi Dean..

You are welcome..and look forward to sharing this trail with you.

We will need 4 wd to get up there... A few years ago a fallen tree got in the way... also will bring a handsaw.

If there is time, will head over to Conway afterwards.

That would be cool !

In the meantime cross the fingers so we get good weather. Had a cancellations in the past; once due to bridge closure for repairs, and another time early snow blanketed the entire area.

Weather calls for 13 - 17 'C for Sunday, rather cool. with 70% chance of showers.

Hope this changes for the better, still keeping this open. If it rains and visibility is poor, will postphone this for a latter date.

mhzman, are you still in for this trip? Regardless of weather, or are you still good with a minor amount of rain ?

I was up that way today too. Did any of you leave a piece of Canadian Tire money on my windshield right at the big washout?

Hi Jared. I was not aware of it, the first part of our group would have come down around close to 5 pm...
