I would only go to snowfest or even shop at the Coop again if you get rid of that idiotic lame MEC logo and go back to the one that really means something. Get rid of the dead-weight at head office who are making all these poor decisions.

Mountain Equipment Co-op is proud to present our 3rd annual MEC Snowfest Vancouver on Saturday, November 23 at our Vancouver store.

Snowfest continues our tradition of hosting a winter gear swap and we look forward to seeing the huddled masses lining our building overnight once again. There will be tons of used winter gear on offer including many pairs of touring skis and snowhoes.
We are also offering ski/board consignment and table rentals for anyone looking to part with some previously-loved gear.

We have a number of free clinics on offer including Intro to Ski Touring, Avalanche Safety and more.

Representatives from most snowsports brands will be present to answer any burning questions you may have.

And since everyone loves being showered with free goodies, our partners have stepped up to offer some incredible prizes! Some of the prizes include snowshoes from MSR, an AST Level 1 Course from Canada West Mountain School, and our grand prize of a day of Heli-skiing courtesy of Powder Mountain.

Details and registration can be found online at: http://events.mec.ca/event/9712/mec-snowfest-vancouver

We look forward to seeing you there!

You mean 'Urban Equipment Co-op'? 'Yoga Central'?

I can get better gear elsewhere, and now that all the experienced staff have left, better advice.

Sad to see CT is now an advertising forum for big-box retailers.

With all due respect, a grand prize of heli-skiing is inconsistent with the first purpose of the co-op as stated in the rules of co-operation:
"designing, manufacturing, purchasing, selling and renting products for self-propelled wilderness oriented recreational activities,"

WTF??????????? Heli skiing? As noted, MEC is supposed to be about self propelled.

Mission statements and such are just hot air nowadays....The Co-op is much like most political parties--Lies and selling out! They should have their co-op status pulled.

Delete the post then............Maybe re-think your grand prize as well....That is if your corporation is able to take advice from members and soon-to-be former co-op members

I suppose they're catering to the rich or wanna be rich. In any case the outdoors doesn't really need an invitation. It doesn't take any more then one foot in front of the other...I love gear but I also love getting there on gear that doesn't roar.

It seems that you aren't thinking about the things that we are thinking about. Is there such a thing?

funny as 3 other threads are about 4x4s and how to drive to the trail head. maybe we should all just stay home instead. there is no such thing as a backcountry self propelled activity.
