1993 Ford Taurus GL Roof Racks
Hello all . I have a 1993 Ford Taurus and looking to get roof racks for it . Does any one know what rack will fit that car ? I just got a rack from a junk store and when I put them on I cant close the door .Some racks that I have looked at can only go back to 1996. If I cannot find a rack for it, I will take any idea on how to take a 16 foot canoe on the roof with out a rack . Thanks .

Get foam pads (look for them at mec website to see what I mean) and attach them to the gunwales. Put the canoe onto the roof. Strap down the bow and stern to secure attachment points on your bumpers. Roll down your back windows and thread another strap through the car and around the canoe. Do this through your front windows too if you like but then you'll have to enter the car dukes of hazard style since you won't be able to open the windows.
Or just attach some eye bolts permanently to your roof. We are talking a 93 Taurus here.

You can get some very nice black "rails" with rack attachment points. They look almost stock and install through the roof. I think Rack Attack does them. Worth it if you're going to keep the car for a while.

I got a set from crappy tire for my 94 Taurus. Although I can close the doors securely they do interfere with door movement so there is a slightly larger gap with the door closed. It does let a little bit of rain in so I don't keep them on the car fulltime.

You could try to reach out to Hikerdude1970 (not sure if he still follows CT or answers anything from CT though). He sells Thule racks and may be able to help you.
Cheers!
