Didn't want to create a new thread for this, but any feedback on paddle choices? I really like the look and feel of wood but apparently that's not a good way to go. Thoughts?

For short trips (weekend or less) I doubt you will find much difference between a $40 paddle and a $400 one. I have never used a wood paddle, but I would not hesitate to. Whatever you choose, make sure you buy a spare paddle too. They do slip away sometimes, and you will look really dumb, sitting in the middle of Georgia Straight trying to paddle with your hands. (It has happened).

P.S., any suggestions on how to attach a small flag to the back? I've always wanted a jolly roger on a kayak.

You might need to strap a bamboo wand to extend it.
