Default NWT hiking

Funny how we've been all over the planet but not our own North, until now. In a few weeks we are driving up to Yellowknife from Edmonton with a layover at Wood Buffalo Natl Park. We have several weeks and would like to stay active with day hikes or short (2-3 day) backpacking hikes. Can anyone recommended something they have enjoyed?

PS, we also love running so suggestions of must-run trails would be most welcome.

We had a great time driving/camping and Yellowknife was a real gem. Heading to the Yukon in 2019.

2019 provided another great year of Northern adventures. Drove up to Skagway to hike the Chilkoot Trail, then to Whitehorse before heading on the Donjek Route in Klaune NP. Followed up with a few days in Dawson City before driving the Dempster to Tuktoyaktuk.

Determined to go North again in 2020...

This looks like spectacular territory. May I ask, where is the lake in the middle photo?
Do you have an online photo gallery or a blog where I could read more?
Thanks!

That's Crater Lake along the Chilkoot Trail when you "entered" Canada going North. It's in my Top 3 of lakes.

Sorry to have been away from this thread for so long :-( We are again heading north this week, but only dipping into NWT before hooking back down into Wood Buffalo National Park. Its our second time up there and we had hoped to get into the heart of wolf country at Sweetgrass Station but beta from the wardens is that the 14km trail is out of commission due to windblown trees and high water. A shorter trip into Rainbow Lakes will have to suffice unless we receive better news upon arrival.
