Default Mt. Niles Beta

Hi,

I'm looking for some info regarding following Niles Creek towards Niles Glacier (Yoho National Park), instead of the usual route through Niles Meadows. Is it possible to access the East valley up to the Niles Glacier by sticking close to Niles Creek? Looks do-able on Google Earth, but have been unable to find any beta following this route. Looking to get up to the glacier plateau.

Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about this valley (Route from Niles meadows comes in from left but you'd like to follow drainage center right)?

If so, the answer is obviously no as evident from the photo

Yes, that's the route I'm thinking of. Looking to make it slightly lower than your image suggests. From the North end of Sherbrooke Lake. I'm looking to make it to the approximate marker in the image below. The route looks manageable, more just looking for info of what the approach up Niles Creek looks from the route towards Niles Meadows.

Final part to break into the cirque you are looking to is scree/talus bash but apparently no cliffs

Prob. nice bivi there too, although I am not sure why you'd want to go there unless you are thinking of Daly south outlier

Grad student studying glacier-fed stream ecosystems! Interested in sampling Niles Creek close-ish to the glacier as Niles Glacier, feeding Niles Creek, will likely disappear in the next decade or so (on the South face).
