This post had me wondering if I was crazy(ier), so I did a quick search:

Here is Hidden Lake on Sept. 16, 2017: http://mattclay.zenfolio.com/mount_r...7D40#h964e7d40
Here is Hidden Lake on Sept. 15, 2013: https://www.flickr.com/photos/markos...7635667948993/

In this area, between just these two years, the larches have definitely changed early. From 2012-2016 I've found Sept. 20-25 is prime time, but again, this is a fairly uselessly small data set!

<rant>I tried FIVE DAMN TIMES to upload those two simple photos to this message. Each time ended in failure. First the whole darn message and photos just disappeared. On the second try the photos filled the whole damn screen and I couldn't see what the heck I was typing. On the third try I got some stupid generic error message, but not before fighting to see what I was typing as the photos filled the whole itty bitty message box. On the fourth and fifth I tried different things and got the same error message. This is why Facebook is where everyone posts these days.</rant>

Now to hope the sixth time actually works....

Matt, think you might be right regarding the area; interesting Skoki comparison

thanks for trying to upload an image; when "photo fills whole damn screen" it means it is uploading -- just wait till it shrinks, it means it has been uploaded. Just resize photos before uploading, don't try with full res as you do when putting on zenfolio.

Here is your terrific shot of Hidden Lake, Richardson & Pika. Happy birthday by the way!

Hiking is what keeps you young of mind and heart. When the going gets tough, the tough get going..............

I grabbed a spot at the Elizabeth Parker Hut last weekend. The weather forecast had me thinking I'd get a bit of snow up high, some blue skies and lots of colour. I ended up with mixed skies, some snow on the trails and some nice colour but not like I'd seen in some pics here. Having said that, I wasn't disappointed at all and loved my hike in those different conditions! Extra spectacular scenery with the snow. I was glad that I had done the Alpine Circuit in August as it was nice to know where the trail was going. It was a great hike to end my season with.

thnx so much. I keep telling myself I need to get a new camera but better performance means bigger(all other things being equal) size and then the thing won't be so handy; so less pictures.............and so it goes

I've been @ O'Hara today & earlier this week in Skoki, so I think I'll jump on "larches are behind" bandwagon; usually by end of Sep at least as long as I've been around needles have mostly fallen off at these 2 places. Today at O'Hara they were at their prime.
