Default Chef in your Backpack

Just picked up this book at Costco for $12.29. The print on the back posts $21.95. It is written by Nicole Bassett. Seems to have lots of non-meat recipes for you vegetarians. She wrote the book with the intent of having to carry the minimal weight, but still have some good food. I guess I'd better cook up something good up at Strike Lake this weekend (to supplement the odd rainbow trout).

Seems that cookbook really favours the "chop it up and put it into ziplock: voila, camping food! Not a whole lot of weith is saved, and the author says that anything dehydrated tastes bad, which just isn't so. Also, I've had some bad experiences with cut fresh veggies in a bag spoiling over a 2 day period when the weather is warm...

The recipes are good though. For backpacking, dry them at home, then bring them along.

MMM pesto and chickpeas! The samples the author made were good at the booksigning June 26th at MEC.
