Winter wear for BCMC
Hi All,

Looking for advice for clothing for the BCMC which I want to hike all winter. I already have a toque, long johns, and hiking boots.

What I'm looking for is clothing that will keep me from freezing while hiking the trail. It should take me 1.5- 2 hours to hike in the snow.

I'm thinking I need non-knitted mittens, a pair of snow resistant pants, and a jacket which will keep me dry in rain/snow, and also moderately warm.

My order of importance is:

1. Staying dry
2. Price ($100 or less for the 3 items)
3. Staying warm

Thanks so much!

Hi Doug,
For hiking BCMC you don't need any fancy gear, just a synthetic shirt and some kind of simple track pants that you can get at wal mart. A warm coat that you can wear when you start hiking, I usually wear a coat for the first 5 minutes then take it off, and put it on again at the top. For staying dry, if it's really raining hard I'll use an umbrella which keeps me dry and I don't overheat in a jacket. I will also carry a spare shirt in my pack that I can put on once I'm at the lodge. It would also be a good idea to invest in some spikes like these:
Most of the time you don't need them but when it's icy they come in handy.

Hope this helps,
