Hi all,

Just got some new skis and need to get bindings mounted. I'm looking for the absolute best quality outfit I can find even if the cost is high. I thought this would be a good place to get advice Any recommendations?

You are overthinking this. Any ski shop should be able to properly mount your bindings. Or you can even mount them yourself, like I did.

I definitely don't have the knowledge to try it myself. The Googling I did before posting here suggested it's not uncommon for shops to mess it up so don't want to take the chance.

MEC or VPO both do good jobs with backcountry skis. As a matter of fact the employee of another climbing shop where I bought my new skis last year specifically recommended those two despite them being technically competitors. That kind of recommendation cannot be purchased, only earned.

depends whos working that shift, like a restaurant.. usually very dependant/rated, on staff that services that time frame for you.

You need to be slapped in the face real hard for wasting 2 weeks on this stupid worry of yours. Mounting bindings is a simple and dumbproof process. If you have a mounting jig, which the ski shops do, then anyone who can operate a drill and turn a screwdriver can do this in about 5-10 minutes. Worst case the shop will be liable for any screw ups.

I'm fussy about my skis (you have to be when heading out for a month to remote areas) and understand the OP's concern and question. Bryan Preston at the Vancouver MEC store used to be THE guy to mount your bindings, but he blew his elbows out a few years back and no longer does this. He recommends Dirk (same store).

Crystal Glide in North Van is top notch, and mounts lots of backcountry bindings.
