Default Budget Way to Wash Tech Fabrics?

Jumping off this old thread

I have heard Ivory Snow baby detergent is ok for washing merino and other fabrics. Is this true?

I have bought Nikwax and Grainger's before and have no complaints other than the price over the longterm.

My ideal plan would be continue to use official tech wash for my Gore-Tex to clean and re-DWR... but then have a cheaper every day option for less expensive pieces such as my $30 mec synthetic hiking shirts and various running tights/socks etc. Perhaps they don't even need a gentler wash but they do seem to have better water/dirt repellence when I tech wash them.

Is Ivory snow better than normal detergents for this purpose? Also is Wool-Lite acceptable for washing Merino? Someone in an REI once told me that was ok.

Thank you for any thoughts.

There is no need for special detergents. Just wash on gentle cycle or hand wash with your normal detergent, then air dry wool flat (not in drier), and dry the other ones according to the instructions on the DWR reproofing treatment you use.

I wash mine in Woolite and air dry. Never had an issue.

I reproof my jacket once a year and just follow the directions
