1st Annual Reunion
 

Have any of you guys and gals thought about trying to get together this spring/summer/fall for a ClubTread get-together! Most of the other clubs that I have been visting have "meetings" several times per year. It might be a "large" experience to meet locally for a day or night of festivities! Any thoughts.......!

There is a big gathering up in the Stein on the May long weekend with a bunch of Club Tread posters. You're welcome to come along.

I belong to another internet group which has regular group trips too.

That sounds great. The only problem is that I have to work that weekend. I still would like to know if anyone wants to get together on a "social" level, somewhere in the lower mainland, to meet and greet! It might be fun to see faces, to go along with our 'names', and maybe exchange some tall tails!

I think that's a great idea. If anyone has suggestions as to what we should do that would be great. I'm thinking probably a few hiking events like the Stein. But it might also be fun to get the group together in other ways as well. Suggestions are always welcome!

I was talking to Outdoorguy the other day and we were both thinking that a two day trip up to Joffre Lakes would be nice. One day to get up there and relax, the second day to do explore, do a little fly fishing, and to head up the climbing route. I have a bunch of people from another site interested in this one. I was thinking about August for this one.

In late Sep. I have another gettogether with a group for the High Divide in the Oly's (Olympics). It's a 3-4 multiday loop which ends up in the Elwa with the last day ending with a visit to the Olympic backcountry hotsprings on the way out.

I always do one trip of to Garibaldi every summer and I have a few people interested on climbing up Opal Cone with me to see what's on the other side this year.

Anyone interested in coming on one of these trips is welcome to.

How early in the season can you do the Skagit River?

I have always done it the third week in May but I think that this year's snow is going to push it into June. This is why I have decided to go to Lindeman Lake next week because it is at a lower elevation. Looks like I'll be chasing the snow level back up hill all year.

How does that compare with something like Sumas Mountain? We were up there a few weeks back and didn't see alot of "sticking" snow. It was cold though!

I had surgery a couple of weeks ago and I'm not allowed to go out and play for another month :( Would love to get together though! So if anyone wants to plan something later in the season, I'm in.

Hey Spidergirl sorry to hear that you went under the knife. I have been there myself, it was not pleasant.

Joffre sounds like a plan I am in, I would like to be included in that trip. Plese keep me posted.

Attention Visitors - Important Notice!

As of April 26, 2002, the park is closed between the 8 and 9 km marks on the Skagit River Trail due to a slope failure. A slide has broken through the retaining wall and completely covered the Trail. It is a high hazard area at this stage and not safe for public use.

Chinook, thanks for the tip on the Skagit. I'll try some others and leave that one for a little later. :)

They had the same message posted last year in May. I followed horse tracks all the way along the trail.

There was a closure. We made it across but you needed to be careful. Jimbo wrote an article on the Skagit and we have some pix of the slide in with the article.
