Default Yoho - Iceline

Parks Canada website has the dates as open mid-June to October. Anyone attempted the Iceline trail on the early end of the season, say late June? Any idea what type of conditions I might run in to at this time of year (ie snow pack in higher terrain, etc). Just wanted to know if anyone had hiked the trail this time of year and if what I should be prepared for. Done some hikes in Wells Gray in late June & run in to some pretty heavy snow pack, so just curious about Yoho. Thanks!

I don't know if BC has a similar site, but I like to use (http://environment.alberta.ca/apps/b...=10&DataType=4) to judge snowpack related conditions (Skoki is probably the closest). It's going to vary considerably from year to year. Sometimes a single week can make a big difference as a the snowpack melts out. Trail was completely clear last year when we did it, but that was mid July in a year with a lighter snowpack

Thanks Kelly, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the snowpack, just wanted to know if people had an experience. Seemed early to me in June. Thanks for the info on last year, July would seem to be the best time of year to get up there, but I'm otherwise engaged at that time, so trying to find a time to get out and hike what I hear is an amazing trail! Happy hiking!
