Thumbs up Tonquin Valley

A few pics fron my 3-day backpacking in Tonquin Valley, September 10-11-12
I had a great time and I'd like to thank you all for the info I red inside here.

I slept in HI Cavell hostel the night before starting the hike, then in Surprise Point (night one) and in Amethyst (night two).
Very variable weather: rain, clouds, a little sun, a lot more rain but definitely not cold at all.
No mosquitos or biting bugs.
The terrain was awfully wet and muddy, the worst part being trail 106 near chrome lake.
No bears and no moose but I was lucky enough to spot a wonderful caribou!

Campsite 1 is the best, right?! (except that I don't know who stole my left sandal from the vestibule)

You saw a caribou! I was there a few days later thinking that the valley is quite "inhabited", no wonder that there are almost no caribous left. (hiking in and out from Portal. Two nights were freezing cold. I altered plans because I didn't expect it to be so muddy, skipping Chrome Lake)- by the way there were always free spots at the campsites (2x Amethyst, 1x Portal)

OMG, maybe its this guy:

Always wondered what happened to him. Love heading into the Tonquin during the fall. Sweet spot for us is between the Cavell Rd closure and JNP access closure.
