Default Sept 10 Sunset Peak ?

Found this little peak listed in a book, Gentrek maps calls it "Sunset Peak", not certain if that's an official name or just something they called it.
The peak is about 10km along the Skyline trail from Maligne lake, at Little Shovel pass it is the peak on the right hand side, NE from the trail.

The views don't get much better until about 7k into the hike.

Once you get close to Little Shovel, you can see the peak on the right.

It's pretty straight forward, just shift the legs into low gear (or in my case, slow gear) and head up the scree slope, it's about 250 meters higher than the pass. It was actually fairly easy as the scree was hard packed and every step up stayed as one step up with no sliding back down.

Views from the peak are outstanding in all directions.
East is Maligne lake

West is Big Shovel Pass and although hard to see in this photo, Mt Robson.

I have not done the Skyline trail, but it sure is high on my list now.
An incredible area.

Thanks for posting this TR. One day I hope to traverse from Little Shovel Pass all way to Bald Hills. Did you take photos of this section? I'd love to see them.

I was thinking the same sort of thing, only the opposite direction. It sure looked like you could go a long way from Bald hills.
The panos sort of push back all the detail so here are individual photos that would start from Maligne and end just short of Big Shovel.

This last photo continues from the end of the other photos and shows Big Shovel on the far right.
