Default Revelstoke Mountain Resort?!

WTF?? I thought it was supposed to be some awesome new place. I have not been there in person but look at the trail map for the place. What a joke.

Why would you pay $$$$ to cat ski in an area you could easily traverse to from the top of the chair?

So...who thinks this place is going to tank?

Perhaps I lack vision but I just don't see it. It's too small to make going out of the way to get there worth it. There are so many other options that are not in butt **** no where. 3 lifts? I wonder if they will expand the hill as buildings are put up.

Revelstoke has better and more consistent snow than any other resort town. If you're going to build a new resort or expand an old resort, the Stoke is the place to do it.

It won't tank. Other locations might tank, but not one that lies right on Hwy 1 and gets 50 plus feet of snow a year.

You guys sound like a bunch of grumblers.

It was just on the TV news, they have plans for 100 runs and 20 or 30 lifts in the next 15-20 years.

I am not grumbling...I have no problem with the place other than it's too small. It needs to be way bigger with more terrain, which according to the last post will happen. That is good.

I still plan on going there but maybe midweek given the lack of lifts, for now.

I believe the plan is to expand the terrain over the next few years. The focus of this past year was installing the two new lifts.

This resort is going to be a huge success. After being open only a few days it is already the talk of the Calgary ski scene.

What is the Calgary ski scene? People might be talking about it but can you see people spending hours and hours driving from Calgary to ski for the day?

I cat skied there last winter. Sandy is 100% right. #1 silly negative atitudes here. Why would you want something to tank after someone has invested and put money and time into a dream. Be happy for others.
The area is also awesome and you can not tell from a trail map. You could tour the area last year as well as cat ski and the area is huge and deep. Lots of lodging in town or on the hill with new condos which have sold like hot cakes to fat kids. Cat Skiing will still be awesome to and easyily out of the way and very reasonable for day rates to hop into last minute deals.

A great place and not that far out of the way unless your riding you bike.

Judging by time spent in the town in the winter, half the population of Alberta has already spent the day driving there to drive their sleds around, so.... Yes.

My new home is one of the ones with a helipad in Revelstoke.
I should get some fatter skis from the sounds of it...
