With respect to declining participation on CT (fewer informative or interesting posts, however one cares to define it), that phenomenon has afflicted every bb I have participated on or followed; some have simply closed up and gone silent.
Some have attributed it to the rise of Facebook as the dominant forum (I don't know; not on Facebook), others to meetup groups and Instagrammers = a shift in the culture.
Others find the woods overwhelmed with people, not the silent refugia they were 50 years ago.
I am very grateful that ClubTread exists. As the woods and national parks in USA get overwhelmed beyond capacity,* Canadian woods and parks offer a respite.
So you may find a gradual uptick with new blood. Time will tell.
(In the past, doing the Annapurna Circuit was an important "hiking resume" item, followed by hiking the New Zealand track. Now neither is true.)

*Also, they are burning to a crisp.

Thanks Coldbrook, I can remember when I first signed up, this was such a vibrant and active community. Set up a hiking event, and several people would reply to join.

Largest CT problem by far is poor management. Interface plastered by gun adds, lack of support or even basic understanding what this community is, classic posts from the past crippled by lost photos, etc etc. Nothing will ever get better until there is ownership change.

But for few of us that are still part of community it is not reason not to be here. It is our CT, not theirs, because we built it. As far as western Canada goes it is still best resource around for casual outdoor enthusiast, period. (bivouac rules for technical stuff, but bivouac is not free).

[Hijacked Katie thread, sorry Katie. J&K btw are immense part of CT legacy & it is fantastic they maintain some sort of presence even if nowhere close to level and variety of TRs from days past]

Hey John I only lurk occasionally now too, given the decline on the site plus Oliver passed away last year, and slowed down before that so I wasn't hiking.

But it is so great to see Katie is so well and fit! We only met once on the trail, near Strachan I think many years ago.

I adopted a new mutt last September. He is just getting to the point where he is civilized enough to manage trails lol, so I'm hoping to get him out soon. He almost pulled me off my feet when we tried snowshoeing this winter- neither of us were ready haha.

Your posts with Katie bring so much joy!

She enjoys hanging out at the beach too, but is always much more alive in the mountains. Don't mind her dirty socks, cause she don't care. : )

DD last Sunday. Full loop north to south. North side of DD was bushy and buggy. Small patches of snow left, but harmless. Mt. Beautiful to Lindsay was muddy, as usual. Viewpoints Trail was beautiful, in great condition, and quiet as usual. : )

Hard to tell through clouds, it looked like it could be Sea-to-Sky down

That's a big loop, can't blame Katie for taking a nap
