Hello fellow backpackers and adventure seekers! I am looking for information on hiking Kappan Mountain (Anaheim/ Chilcotin region) this coming summer. My grandmothers ashes were spread there many years ago by my grandfather and now the family would like to spread my grandfathers ashes there as well. The majority of us are able bodied enough to hike a portion of the trail - others, like my parents who are 75 are not... is there any access to the mountain by side-by-side trails? Also can you recommend a beautiful place on the mountain to leave a memorial plaque (stone or sign).

I hiked to the top of Kappan Mtn a couple years ago. To my knowledge there is no ATV trail into the alpine, but I am not certain.

The main trail seems to go to a lookout. We veered off before that to go a different direction on the mountain. But perhaps the lookout would make for a nice place for a memorial?

The guys at Tweedsmuir Air seem to know a lot about local trails and accessibility. They might be able to help you, as they fly over the area regularly. They primarily use floatplanes, but perhaps you could find a helicopter company to take your family up the mountain. Fly up- hike down?

I will caution about the mosquitos, at least in mid June when I went. They were brutal. There are a few pics at the end of this TR. Good luck.
