Default Dream Trek

Following Backpacker 29's lead on the favorite hikes thread, I would like to ask where Treaders dream of trekking. Magically erase all limitations, where would you go hiking?

This is a great thread - as was the last! Dream places always tend to be far away. Probably because they are harder to get to travel-wise. I would love to check out Nepal. Also, I've always wanted to do Kilimanjaro. I may try that one in the next few years. Have to start stuffing travel fare into my hiking sock.. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> I'd love to do some hiking in Switzerland as well.

Things that are closer, I'd like to do more in the Rockies (haven't done much) and also like to try the Chilkoot. Another hike that I'd really like to do is hike through the Grand Canyon. I have some friends who have some great stories from when they did it...

I have a few dream places I want to go like...

Nepal, Everest basecamp
Chilcoot Trail
Climbing the volcanic peaks in Katmai National Park, Alaska
Iceland
New Zealand.

See you on the mountain!

Kilamanjaro, Nepal. What incredible experiences those would be. Similarly exotic, I would include the Andes -- Bolivia and Pantagonia. And Hiker Boy, I am with ya on Iceland. I don't know about y'all, but I'll feel lucky to do one or at most two such trips -- and I want to start saving and planning soon so that at least one really happens. But where to start?! Although the exotic cultures, critters and climates all appeal, for me at least, it is wilderness that beckons strongest. Iceland? But in the meantime, here we are, living in a hikers paradise! So what about BC and the Canadian North? I was recently looking at some pictures of the Tombstone Range (thank you WildThing). Incredible. And right here. Well, okay, not right here; but a lot closer than Nepal! So, while surfing in this mood, I hit on a site that many of you may already know http://www.greatwildspaces.org/regions.html -- some good dream material. But please keep posting in this thread and in the one started by BP#29 on your favorite hikes (dream food for the rest of us. Thank you!

That's a great site!

Hmm... I think my dream trek would be that 90-km trek through Baffin Island, Nunavut! Besides that, anything in Nepal and south/south-western China would be awesome!
