Default Garibaldi Lake Reservation Thievery

Hey, I'm not complaining...well sort of am...I remember when you could just drop some cash into a slot and hike away. Now its 10 bucks per person, per night and 6bucks per tent pad per night. Would go somewhere else, but wanted to show the wife what Garibaldi was like... 50 bones later....

PS - you have to reserve now to stay there. No pay at the TH option available.

My hiking career: a selfish pursuit or a pursuit of self?

That's about par. Kananaskis permits are $12 per night per adult (16 years+). There is no per tent pad fee. If you reserve ahead (rather than get your permit at the visitor center) there is an additional $12 reservation fee. However you are only required to camp in a campsite within the Provincial Parks (Peter Lougheed, Bow Valley, Sheep River, and Spray Lakes). In the wildland parks, you can random camp in most locations without a permit, you just need to be 1km away from a road, campground, provincial park, or provincial recreation area camp.

I think this is long overdue, Berg Lake and the Rocky Mountain National Parks have had this for years. We don't like camping with big crowds anyway so we just look for other more lightly travelled places to go.
