Default Windstorm kills camper near Oliver

I was talking to someone today who knows the poor fellow from Chilliwack man that died after a tree fell on his tent. Makes me think more about looking at the trees around when setting up my tent now... I know there were a few times that a tree looked "questionable" but we tented there anyway. Here's a link to the story:

Interesting... poor guy, though! I guess I always look to put my tent right under trees so that the trees stop some of the rain and they sometimes block some of the sunlight, but I never thought of that happening before.

I was talking to a guy I had met on the WCT a few weeks ago. It was the day/night that we had the wind & gale winds. Jimbo and I were heading towards Bamfield and got the heck out. I was told by Jeremy, the guy I had met, that some trees fell at their camp that night. Apparently a woman there was hit by a number of the branches (lucky it wasn't the main part of the tree). <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

Whoa, crazy! Makes you re-consider the exact location where you put your tent. Well, there tend to be a lot more storms and heavier winds on the ocean.

My aunt and uncle were camping a few campsites away.

He dies and his partner lives. Talk about sleeping on the wrong side of the bed!
