I love the Bridge River Valley, or just about anywhere north of Pemberton & West of Lilooet. You can take the Hurley to get there (highly recommend this drive). You can spend days exploring the mountains.

Here's some info:

The shulaps range is amazing and I've come across a few shelters on their trails. This whole area in general is a beauty. When I think 'star gazing', I think to get out here:

Default looking for trail ideas - star gazing

I'm taking a couple weeks off in mid June and my plan is to backpack on a scenic, challenging enough trail away from the city's light pollution allowing for some camping and star gazing. I live in Vancouver but am willing to travel anywhere in BC.

Has anyone done this kind of stuff?

Sunshine Coast Trail. No lights, lots of star gazing. If by "challenging" you mean serious elevation gain each day, this is not for you, but you will put in a lot of ups and downs en route, and will have a very peaceful experience. For some reason this trail really resonates with Europeans - in the past two weeks I have met Swiss, French and Norwegian backpackers as I hiked portions of the trail. PM me if you are interested after checking this idea out, I have lots of local knowledge.

Best star gazing I've ever done, in the Northern hemisphere, was at Jumbo Pass in the Purcell Mountains, nearest town Invermere. A couple hours of good hiking up from the trailhead which is usually accessible, although 4X4 is recommended. Beautiful hi elevation meadows, decent camping, local mountain club hut. Felt like I could stick my hand out and grab a star. I was there in early september, few bugs and cooler.

Lots of trip reports about Jumbo Pass on Club Tread

How about Mount Kerr/Marble Range? Not much in the way of multi-day trails but you could spend a couple of nights up there at least, and little light polution.

Heather Trail up at Manning - drive to the top of a mountain, no light pollution at all, and some great hiking:
