Default Northern Lights

The following message was in my mailbox today . My question is : Has anyone seen the lights while out on an over-nighter . I can only remember once a few years ago seeing them over Pitt Lake @ 2:00am .
I do remember a very vivid green .... and somewhere off in the distance the X-Files theme ...( just kidding about the music )

A geomagnetic storm is underway on Thursday, May 23rd, after a coronal
mass ejection struck Earth's magnetic field earlier and with greater
energy than anticipated. Sky watchers, especially those at high
latitudes, should be alert for auroras after local nightfall on Thursday.
Observers in, e.g., northern Europe, Canada and across the northern tier
of US states are favored, but mid-latitude observers might spot something,
too, if the storm continues and intensifies. Visit for

The Northern Lights are an amazing experience if you get to see them, when I was living in Lake Louise I saw them quite a few times but the most amazing time was back in Skoki Valley about 2 years ago. There was a 360 degree circle of dancing light all sorts of colours When the light reflects of the snow or glacier there even more intense it must of lasted for at least 20 min. to a half hour, tried to take pictures with my 800 speed disposable but it was not very good. But since I moved back to southern Ont. I don't think I'll see them any time soon
