Default "Leave No Trace" or "Keep Your Pants On"

<rant>

Now, in my hiking days I have hauled many interesting items out of parks/trails that others have seen fit to leave behind: pop bottles, energy bar wrappers, Kraft Dinner boxes, propane tanks, and various other items. Yesterday I reached new heights in my mission to do my part and clean up after others...

Coming down from Garibaldi Lake after a wonderful day spent hiking/snowshoeing, we rounded the last switchback for the final 2.5 kms of our day, when what did I spot out of the corner of my eye? No, not wildlife, not a pot of gold, but a pair of jeans!!! Laying flat out, slightly snow covered, but otherwise, in fine conditions. Yes, jeans. If you don't believe me, just look:

Judging by the style it seemed the wearer might have been into 'gangsta' fashion so I immediately started searching for a body, bling bling or a Fubu hat, but no, no one had been eaten by a bear. Someone had actually discarded a pair of jeans on the trail!!

OK, I know cotten is rotten & all that, but you have to wonder whether dropping your jeans and continuing on in your boxers is a good call?!?

I once found a bra along a trail once...a very LARGE bra.

Of course, I tried for days to locate the owner, to no avail!

I can't believe they were still there. I spotted the exact same pair sitting in that spot way back on Nov. 19. I noted them on the way up, with the intention of carrying them back to the truck on the descent. Night came too early though so by that point on the trip back the focus was more on getting to the truck before the headlamp died than searching for blue jeans in the dark. Good on you for taking them down.

They probaly fell out of someones pack. I don't think most people would just throw them out on the trail.

Does anyone know if they're 34 by 30? Those look like good jeans! :P

I know how tough it is for you right now, curled up lying in your own emotional vomit. You're in hell now, Boomhauer, and the only way out is through a long dark tunnel. And you're afraid to go in because there's a train coming at you, carrying a boxcar full of heartbreak. Well, let me tell you something: All you can do is let it hit you, and then try to find your legs. I know. I've taken that hit more times than I can remember. Look at me, Boomhauer. I'm fat, and I'm old, and every day I'm just going to wake up fatter and older. Yet somehow I manage to drag this fat old bald bastard out into the alley every day. I'm out there, digging holes, falling into them, climbing out, trying again. And tomorrow I'm going to hang outside at a ladies' prison, and the first thing those lady cons are going to see after twenty years is me. Will I get one? Experience says no. Will I be out there next month? If I'm alive, you'd better believe it. You've got to get up off that cannon bed, slip into a tight T-shirt, wash off some of that cologne, and get yourself out of that tunnel and into some strange woman's bed!

If I see them on sale on a street corner downtown, I'll pick them up for you. They dissapeared out of the alley pretty fast when I put them out on Sunday evening.
