Default You asked for it... CT Single Signon

Many of you are probably sick of the fact CT's been automatically logging you out after two weeks, even though you check "remember me".

I won't go into the technical details too much, but CT runs two subsystems - an older "ASP Classic" system for the forums, and a newer "ASP.NET" system for everything else (such as the wiki).

LongShadow and I overhauled the server configuration today (scary job!) and managed to configure it so that there's only *one* authentication system.

What does this mean? You shouldn't be automatically logged out any more [8D]

It was a big change, so if you see any issues we may have missed, please let us know!

I was logged in (successfully, with name showing up top and everything), tried posting a reply to a thread, and got an error message saying that my user or pw was incorrect. Which was odd, since I was already successfully logged in.

Regardless, I gave it a few min and everything is working normally now.

Don't finish your coffees too quick boys.

Found a glitch, when I am logged out entirely, visit the site, click reply to any of the threads and it asks for a user/pass in the textbox and I put it in there, along wth my reply "Invalid username and password" msg appears after I post.

Anywhere else I log in to the site it accepts user & pass fine.

I retested numerous times.
I'm a good beta tester

<s>the tab at the bottum of the page with home, active topics, etc, shows everything twice.</s>

edit: it doesn't seem to be doing that anymore, but

I did notice that a new user who posted in Aces plane crah thread has 0 posts according to the left hand side of the page

I posted a message and got an error message. When I reloaded the page my post was there though. Sorry, didn't save the message. It was a syntax error of some kind, the code in question was something like: if username = ""

Didn't change the post calculation code, so that was probably just a fluke - let me know if you see it again.

<s>Logging in while posting is broken, going to be tough to fix but I'll try to get to it tonight.</s>

Update: Fixed the post page login issue

All the other issues posted so far were during deployment and some new feature releases - cleaned up the profile page and made the footer match the header (finally!)

I just posted a report, and hope I did not loose anything there. I had noticed being logged out before.

Will check it out.

<s>I thought there was "Member since..." info on the profile pages. That is now missing, though it's still available on the "members" list. Can this be reinstated?</s>

Well, I see it today, but I didn't see it yesterday. Gotta be me. I indeed do feel a bit more alert today. Please ignore this post and its poster.
