Default Alouette Mtn from west canyon trail

I want to go up Alouette Mtn from the Evans Peak trail. I was up Evans peak a couple weeks ago and it was awesome. Im wondering how the trail is up Alouette mtn. Is the trail good? well marked? Is there any parts that have to be climbed like the bit just before you summit on Evan's Peak?

Here is a trip report from last November when I hiked this trail:

https://forums.clubtread.com/27-briti...v-08-15-a.html

After the fork to Evans; going up Alouette, you travel up a good steepish slope, then a plateau , followed by a boulder field, a trail, then one spot where it s a little narrow like a rock gully shoot before you get up to the top.

Hiking is what keeps you young of mind and heart. When the going gets tough, the tough get going..............

Awesome pics! Is the trail easy to find after the boulder field? Well marked?

I was up there in early June and didn't have much trouble following the trail. The last steep bit before the summit wasn't easy to follow but there was still quite a bit of snow up there then.

edit-Just looked at KARVITK's pics and the steep gulley that he shows (the Notch) was where I had trouble. There was alot of water there at the time and there were no markings or flags that I saw at this point.

You can actually do a nice loop. Up via Evans, down to Mike Lake with 2 cars -- or back via Menzies trail for full loop. If you look at my report: https://forums.clubtread.com/27-briti...-alouette.html (has a good pic of boulder slope too), in one of replies alhike talks about this.

I was thinking about a loop that way but never thought about returning via menzies. Im thinking that if i did that it would be around 25km?

Hey I was just up this trail yesterday, went up to Alouette and then over to Evan's afterwards.

The trail to Alouette is in good shape; no climbing like for Evan's but maybe a spot or two with a veggie belay for extra help. The trail is well marked and easy to follow even through the boulder field; ill probably have a trail report with a few pics later today.

Thank you! Im headed up there Friday morning. From the junction, is it further to Alouette than it is to Evans?

I ended up doing this hike Sunday rather than Friday as it was pouring rain Friday morning.....sigh. However, the trail was in great shape, well marked and much more scenic than the longer Mike Lake route. I would def do this one again.
