Default Perkins Peak in the spring?

Has anyone gone up to Perkins Peak in the Chilcotin region, earlier than July/August? I want to go there in the early spring, but I can't find any information on whether or not it would be accessible. I realise that seasons don't determine the amount of snow when your in the mountains! ~cheers

It starts melting out in June, but it will be snowy into sometime in July. If you want to go before June, you'll be skiing or snowshoeing.

I have heard that people sled up there. In that case trail would be broken. You could contact Powder Kings Snowmobile club and see if they'd know. If you can drive as far as Miner Lake and camp, a trip from there to the peak and back would be a long but doable day.

Hi Banana Slug! I've been up Perkins about 3 times now. The first time I heard about it was from a Ministry of Forest guy that recommend August as the prime month to be there. Every year of course is different, but I've been in July and not been able to get to the highest access by vehicle. You will still get quite high on the mounain. If you are intending to quad up instead of drive, no problem. Have fun, enjoy the view of Waddington!
