Default Larching Part 1: Cutthroat Pass - Oct. 3, 2015

I've deleted all my content. I can't accept Vertical Scope's (the site owner) terms of service and can't stand their use of advertising, particularly the viglink service which inserts links into my posts without my permission. I'm sad to leave the CT community and thank all of those who have contributed over the years.

Crazy! Dean (not sure of his CT name) and I just headed down to Cutthroat Pass on Mon. for a day trip and it was my first time going to the North Cascades as well! We left Chwk at 8:30 and arrived at the TH at 12:30. Spent 7 hrs hiking and exploring and then drove back the same day. Home at midnight!

Anyways, I guess I don't have to post a trip report now (thanks for that!) as I'm never the best at writing them but I should still do one for Hurricane Hill the weekend before. (Olympic National Park).

Love your pictures and yes, the scenery all around was and is stunning eh?!

Did you see or run into many people doing the PCT? We only saw one backpacker, everyone else was a day hiker or trail runner.

Interesting about the mountain bikers!

My mini trip report: It took Dean and I 2.5 hours to get to the Pass from the TH and we also talked about how there was little to no grade! Once at the top we hiked over to a saddle to see what was beyond. That's when we caught our first glimpse of Great Horn and Tower Mtn. Then tried to summit a peak. Well Dean did. My hair kept falling into my face so I gave up. Anyways, it was a perfect day... little traffic on the highway AND on the trail and the larch trees were just amazing!

1. breaking out of the forest
2. the saddle we were heading to
3. Cutthroat Lake
4. the second saddle we went to explore. PCT trail and Cutthroat Lake trail.
5. a picture of both of us standing on our boulders!
6. view from my lunch spot!
7. Dean heading up the rocks.
8. and 9. evening light
10. liked these cool boulders and single larch tree.

Thanks Redbeard for letting me share. Hopefully Dean will share a few of his pictures as well!

I was up at Rainy Pass on Oct 01 but went the opposite way (Lake Ann) and checked out that area. Beautiful scenery whichever way you turn.

BG's TR of the Cutthroat Pass and Snowy Lakes really got me interested in the area. Some nice peaks to climb but I would have to do a backpack.
