Default West Coast Trail -Monique's

I heard a rumour that Monique's is not open this year so no burgers & beer. Does anyone know if this is true?

Also heard that there are no restaurants open in Bamfield this year. Does anybody know what food option are open in Bamfield this season?

Not sure about Monique's, but there are several restaurants in Bamfield, would be surprised if they were all closed

If so, that will save a lot of indigestion! 5X on the WCT and I've never stopped there but met up with many who over-indulged and suffered accordingly.

I could see how easy it would be to over indulge after 3-4 days of dehydrated meals. However while the burger at Monique's was good, the fresh halibut steak and baked potato at the Nitnat Narrows crab shack was absolutely fantastic (quite probably the best fish I've ever had)

I just saw a youtube video from a guy who hiked the trail in May. Chez Monique's was closed. The guy said the owner lost their boat in a winter storm. Sad news. I hope they get it going again soon. It is certainly a legendary establishment of the WCT.

Weird, not sure it will be closed all year? I was in Port Renfrew in May and spoke with two girls who were heading to Chez's to work the summer there and already had the job lined up? So unless they got turned away? Maybe call the information center and ask.

Thanks for all the replies! Glad to hear Monique's is open. Also talked to B&B owner who told us earlier this spring that we could not count on places to eat in Bamfield. This week she said a pub has opened and there is a place where you can get a sandwich for lunch on first day. Dehydrated meals are fine but will take advantage of all other available options.. Like burger & beer, and fresh salmon
Will be on the WCT bus to Bamfield June 26 and start trekking June 27....hoping for some sunny days
