Default Windsor Peak Snowshoe (Dec 4 2016)

Finally got the bluebird weekend day I'd been waiting for after seemingly endless days of not so wonderful weather. Was definitely getting cabin fever. Decided to zero in on Windsor which I had been eye-balling for a while via a few trip reports here on clubtread. Seemed like the conditions for this snowshoe would be ideal last Sunday so had made the call to a few friends meeting at the very busy St. David church for 6:30am. Seemed everybody and their dog was taking advantage of this day as well. Wasn't sure if the gate would be open at Porteau Road or not but alas it was. Hit the trailhead at the crack of dawn and off we went.

More pics to come shortly

That was a lot of fun! We really lucked out with the weather. I don't think we could've drive up part of the FSR with this new dump of snow now... The trees, covered in this blanket of snow, were just amazing! So glad the weather didn't warm up too much for it to create snow bomb! LOL

I thought that might be your group of friends Gloria but it was so dark still hard to tell who was travelling with who that busy, busy morning. One of my friends over-heard mention of Mulligan from someone and I see a Mulligan/Anif posting above. I'll have to check and see if that was your group. Hope you had as much fun as we did 8D

Yes the gate was wide open so we were able to drive up all the way to the trailhead for Deeks Lake/HSCT. Roads a little rougher now then 3 years later last time I backpacked the HSCT. Hmmm maybe I should visit Anif again with a HUGE set of nice tracks to enjoy al the way up. Been a few years there for me too.
