Default Semaphore Lakes Sept.26/15

We did a couple of hikes in the Pemberton area including the short Semaphore Lakes trip described in 103 hikes. We had a helluva time finding the trailhead as it is not where it is described as being in the book. The book gives a distance of 50km from the traffic lights at the Petro Canada station in Pemberton. The problem being that there are pullouts on the left side of the road at that distance and beyond. If you find yourself at a pullout with some RIP memorial markers nailed to a tree you have gone too far.The actual distance is more like 48km-48.5km. We placed some flagging at the trailhead when we returned to help out. The first picture is the trailhead area with the flagging we placed. Second is a nice scene from the lake area, and third is the large lake.

No one camping at Semaphore Lakes. We hit the trail late, 4:00p.m., so I would imagine if anyone was going to be spending the night they would have been there by the time we got to the lakes.

Where you stand is where I camped last year. I had that whole lake to myself for 3 days....was incredible!

The Semaphore Lakes are is one of my all time favourite places. Summiting Locomotive Mt makes it even better. The views from up top are amazing!

That looks like an excellent camp spot.
