Savanna update! We've barely had her 4 months and she's is doing great and has adjusted really well. She's beefed up quite well and is strong as heck - she'll be a powerhouse for sure. We took her for a quick snow trip last w/e and she loved it. Santa came early so she's ready for her winter trips now with her new quinzee!

we stayed one night last weekend during a good storm with 80 k winds, 30cm new snow with drifts hammering all night.
Even if we were not there supplying shelter, she knew what to do, to survive, She found a stand a of trees and dug down for protection and went curled sleep mode.

Of course once we had the tent up and told her the bedding was ready, she switched to modern human gear mode and enjoyed all of the secured company, cuddly content snores... I was impressed with the natural reasoning and selection of process to keep herself from perishing while we established camp. Its not taught, just animal behaviour and streamlined over some time with breeding. A bit surprised how she took this trip in harsh conditions over the usual comfort of our home.

It's been a while! Savanna is doing better every month, had her now for over 7 months! I think she finally feels like we're her pack and she feels safe and not going anywhere. Today we took her to Needle Ridge and she finally enjoyed herself in the snow. Last couple of times not so much as it was cold and windy.

I find RRs get bored really easily but today she managed to have fun and keep herself entertained.

She finally took the plunge today and swam! It was for a few moments but she felt comfortable and excited. Yay!

Wow - it's been almost two years now already since we adopted Savanna! She was a feisty girl the 1st year but she's really developed into a great stable dog and hiking partner. She's strong and agile and is quite the protector of camp! We also tracked down the vets who tagged her and found out her birthday, which is April 9th, 2014 so she got puppy cupcakes for her 3rd birthday this past April :-)
